@tuatara1 Having a good master is probably the best thing for a slave since they are likely a slave due to being poor and being sold into slavery to keep their family alive so freedom would be useless since they would become essentially homeless, penniless and starving however if you have a good master you have a home, a bed, cleaning facilities and food which to me seems better than the former. Slavery doesn’t always have to be bad, it’s just been bad in our history. |

@tuatara1 Different strokes, and my point still stands - if you're going to be a slave anyway, you'd be happiest being taken care of and having as much freedom as you can get. As was mentioned earlier that you ignored, if your greatest happiness is not being a slave, then you're not a slave and this invalidates everything. Ergo, while a slave, your greatest happiness is not freedom or else you create a paradox. Instead, it's being a servant who gets all their needs looked after and allowed luxury while being treated in a positive fashion. Also you're way, way too serious and yet also not being realistic enough. This is in another world, regardless of what year it is here, regardless of what culture, regardless of what race. That's the whole friggin' point of fantasy and fiction - the world is not ours, our historical implications DO NOT MATTER. In that world, slavery can be an extremely common thing that doesn't necessarily have to be the worst thing - I've seen some stories where it's actually an absolute honor, like a conscripted squire's position. In that world, magic and monsters are a thing, derpy goddesses ruin peoples' lives by being irresponsible because they're a dumb loli that wants to sleep and not deal with her job. So try not to bring real world considerations into this too much. Just enjoy the story for what it is, or don't. If you're trying to denounce that someone is using slavery positively in a story from a meta-position, just because it has negative connotations in our world, consider that you're discussing this with a black man who finds the inability to separate the two to be silly. |

@tuatara1 Well it's a line that's said in a fantasy world where slavery is normal, I'd agree with you if the setting was in his previous world (our world, our time). Context really do matter after all. And the slavery in this fantasy world isn't that bad, please re-read the chapters when he was still trying to buy Haru, the slave trader explained all the rules about slave. |

@Kayriel You sure are casually casting aside the whole "if you're a slave anyway" issue. Call me naive, but I feel like "greatest happiness of a slave" would generally be not being a slave anymore. Honestly, it blows my mind that any author would actually write lines like that in 2019. But I suppose that if any country would still be putting out stories with such sentiments, it would be one that was still enslaving its neighbors 75 years ago. (And that teaches its own citizens to value service to their employers over pretty much everything else.) |

@twinklecake To be fair. If you're a slave anyway, wouldn't having a kind, supportive master who cares for and about you and allows you a greater deal of freedom than any other slave be the happiest thing? |

@twinklecake To be quite honest, Logically the greatest happiness a slave can have is 'not being a slave' but then they wouldn't be a slave anymore so that wouldn't really be a possibility. So the greatest happiness a slave can have while still being a slave would in fact be 'Having a good master'. |

Shots an arrow blindly in the sky, hitting nothing. "However, your skill with archery is too good to be thrown away." I guess I can now write that I have mastery in archery in my resume... |

Fire in the hole. Instead of reading, "As expected of master.", I read, "As expected of a monster." Somehow true. Poor Ants. |

@Merilirem Chapter wise, no, it hasn't been that long. Release wise, it's been about six months or so since Carol had her job changed; that's a long time whether you're following one series or one hundred. |

@Merilirem I follow a lot of different series. And how often is this series even updated? Looked into it. Its literally been 8 months since the chapter where he got rid of her Temptress job. |

@Riger Really? It hasn't been that long has it? I mean how do you forget her ability to get gangbanged to death by monsters? Left quite an impression on me at least. Like "wow, she's got the female hentai protag starter kit..." |
