@TheGrandMagus if you know beforehand the depth of pool (and it's deep enough), I can't see how such injuries could possibly happen... Ofc, if it's shallow you put your bigger legs ahead precisely to soften the landing and not crush your child. For me it's common sense, I mean, it's stupid a responsible adult not consider that.

PSA: Never slide like that with small children. That can lead to really ugly broken bones. Always slide next to each other.
