Ch. 110

@FredFriendly He was already a scumbag by this point anyway. It was only a question of how big of a scumbag. So far he had betrayed a single girl. Following your wish, he would have betrayed two. In fact he could have avoided betraying any if he had just talked to Natsuna beforehand and explained why he does what he does. Considering it's all about his old man, it's 90% guaranteed Natsuna would have been willing to turn a blind eye to a single fake date during which nothing strange would happen. However, Sumeragi is too broken to understand any of this.

Indeed, that's what he should have done from the beginning. However, since he did accept her offer to find his father, he also had no choice but to honour the deal. He would have been double the scumbag otherwise. Not sure if it makes any difference, though.

So, it is better that he does not be a scumbag to a girl that he just met instead of his girlfriend, the girl he is supposedly in love with? If, after the "investigation," he had refused to go on a date with the little green haird bitch, he would have earned some brownie points in my book and been less of a scumbag.

@Kaarme Wasn't that pretty much the deal for getting the intel on his unknown old man?
And agreeing to any condition that would compromise his relationship with his girlfriend just shows what an insensitive scumbag he is. How would he feel if the tables were turned and it was his girlfriend who agreed to date another guy (and so enthusiastically) in order to find out about her father?

If he really wanted to know about his lineage, no doubt that he could have found out without falling into a honey trap. That is, if he had a brain and knew how to use it. He could have asked his manager to find out for him. Or hired his own detective. Or looked at his family registry...

Well, this chapter pretty much confirms that Sumeragi is a player who is completely insensitive towards his girlfriend. He has a girlfriend he supposedly is in love with yet he invites another girl to go on a date with him? Scum.
