The plan is for Leaf to go in alone while the others wait nearby, if she does not contact them back, assume the story is a lie and Scroll should take the others and escape.

Obviously, the story is true and Roland get 7 new witches to join him. Also Wendy ends up becoming the leader of the witches due to her caring personality.

If you're curious on what their powers are:
Leaf - manipulate plants (initially help with creating a high yield crop seeds)
Scroll - perfect memory (walking database)
Hummingbird - reduce object's weight (not permanent, and requires contact with the object while reducing the weight)
Soraya Zoen - magic painting (she can paint images she recall/imagine perfectly like a photograph, later on improved to actually give special power to things she paint i.e. make a cloak stab-proof or make a grass painting feel like actual grass)
Echo - sound creation (can create/mimic sound of things, even multiple things at once)
Mystery Moon - magnetize things (she doesn't get to do much until later due to being young and the other techs aren't ready)
Lily - her ability is initially thought to be prevent food from rotting, but later on revealed to be converting microorganisms into magical servants that then proceed to convert other microorganisms into the same. (In other word, she created bacteria version of Christianity, DEUS VULT)
