ASSUMING this isn't EXTREMELY cheap and just made Dong Le a bad guy because this suddenly became a shitty story, then I would have to guess that Lu Fei is somehow threatening Dong Le or someone else such as Gao Ran. That would explain Dong Le's willingness to be so ruthless so quickly; it would be in order to protect someone else, such as his family or something else.

That's my guess at the matter. I do really hope that it's not cheap, but I can't be sure.
