@Malaxme Yes, but the point being made was that he's saying those lines because he just snapped out of it and realized something was slightly off from his normal, everyday rapey priest self for a while. Especially if there's any actual desire to rescue her from Shin in that brainwashing he got whammied with. This was written just fine - he was apparently muddled mentally, and was broken out of it. Willpower was said to be the key to the brainwashing, so a sudden shock should do it if it's got that kind of restriction, by shounen/isekai logic.

Yeah, I'm a fan of this series and even I feel that's a little unbelievable. I accidentally looked over this last time.

Was any of this bullshit necessary? Why there had to be an ugly bastard archbishop pedophile, why is the heroine so weak? She could've used magic to cut the rope, she could've attacked the archbishop, used some magic to stun or knock him out, regardless she could've fought him in combat, and all of this for what? No character development no story progression just pissing off the good guys and the readers

I get the reason why they didn't kill the priest, but it's still a huge disappointment. You make this fat pig noble, use him to enrage the readers, then all you give him is a slap to the face. I would say kill him, but again, that goes against the whole plot of them trying to get Ys as an ally. But they definitely needed to give him something more than a fucking slap to the face by the damsel in distress. You need to have a balance for these sorts of troupes if you're going to use them. But w/e. We'll see if the country does something that'll satisfy us, seeing how we definitely won't see anything else coming from the main group.

@firefox1234 Captive princesses does absolutely nothing the entire story/story arc. Yeah she's really close to becoming the trope but nearly avoided it by slapping that priest. This is a yes or no requirement, no such thing as "close to".

@sunsetchaos I just reread chapter 31. Your argument is just wrong.

1. She was kidnapped by the demons, not Ys, in a false, diverted attack. That's why they have the magic to be able to teleport a short distance away. Yeah Shin and the gang can chase after them if they ran but they didn't.

2. It's in Sicily's character to be a pacifist and that's why she didn't harm her captors unless she knows that they're demons. I don't think we've even seen her attacked anything so far (correct me if I'm wrong). Once the phone fell down on the floor (which is at the beginning of the chapter) she immediately knew to trick the priest to reveal his location thus making fighting completely unnecessary.

3. I don't recall that Shin has a radar to detect his allies. The only "radar" that exists is to detect demons by feeling their murderous intent or warped magic or something.

4. You just don't follow the series well enough and trick yourself with these "plotholes" that don't even exist.

Literally most of the complaints I've read are just from readers who failed to understand the story.
