According to the rules, you only appear to fail if you lack an insignia a week after the test starts. It seems like you could hide your insignia and retrieve it later.

Welcome to Chinese manhua (and to a certain extent Korean manwha as well). They often suffer from supremely bad pacing, doubly so when it is adapted from novels. It's almost like they read the novel once and are adapting from memory.
