MC might be a lolicon in a shota's body but that old man wanted to fuck the literal child when she was a child. |

nah she's been planning to fuck him since before orsted put a hole in him he's wanted to fuck her for a while. the manga changes the actual interaction right before sex. acting like a cat didn't make them laugh and connect on some level. the instant she said it they started fucking it's a greyrat thing, he's biologically predisposed to beast race girls (and tits) he didn't do it to comfort her, he actively wanted to wait because he didn't want to take advantage of her feeling alone because her family is dead also, unclear what you mean by artificial drama it's a pretty dramatic situation, all things considered. no artifice necessary |

@nobaka By MC I mean our male MC if that was not obvious from the context. What I said is made explicit (it's literally written in the next chapter), so try as you might to argue, this is a fact. The artificial drama was used as a motivator. |

@criver that doesn't really follow when we actually know for a fact that's not what's going on. it's not spelled out as clearly here, but the manga adaptation is pointing out that rudi has no fucking idea why she's doing what she's doing. i can tell you, if you actually want to know the reason I actually thought of a decent way to explain it without spoilers If you had to describe Eris in one word, the word would be 'idiot'. And I don't mean, kinda dumb. For lack of a better example, she makes goku from dragonball look like a competent, well balanced thinker. For example, rudi was shocked when eris found him miserable after reuniting with paul, and she didn't go and try to beat the shit out of him. That was her shining moment of not being an idiot in all their time together. Whatever you're imagining the author has eris thinking, you're most likely giving her way too much credit. the only reason i'm saying this is because it's a pretty good story, and it would be a shame if you dropped it just because you thought this was a cliche plot device (which it is, just not the one you're talking about) Last edited 9 mo ago by nobaka. |

@nobaka Now go to the next chapter and see that one of the motivations for the MC to agree to have sex with her is precisely this artificial drama. Last edited 9 mo ago by criver. |

@kaarme I'm not saying butler isn't a shitter, just saying he's not evil. He outright stated that he wanted use Eris as a pawn to regain some power in Fedoa/fitoa, because otherwise it goes to whoever wants it @criver it's really not a plot device to get eris to fuck rudi, she's been planning it for weeks. She never really gave a shit about the land, just sad that her family's all dead. Honestly in terms of shitty cliche plots, MT is actually refreshingly competent about avoiding a lot of them. Not all, but a lot. |

@Kaarme Don't doubt the butler's motives, doubt the author's motives. And sure enough you can see this plot device being used in the very next chapter as one of the reasons for our MC to have sex with her. Plot progression demands more sacrifices. ? |

@nobaka I don't see how he could have achieved protecting the land. The family head was executed due to political games. What on Earth could a mere butler do if those big political players wanted to seize the land? Obviously it wasn't up to some random butler. Far more likely is that it was either some law that prevented it for the time being or, more likely, no noble could do it because other nobles prevented it. After all, whoever does it would grow a lot more powerful compared to the others. But sure, he has been doing whatever he could to help the refugees. Too bad he's not extending the same courtesy to Eris. Such behavior makes one doubt his true motivations. |

@kaarme thing is, the butler (and the rest) HAVEN'T been sitting on their asses doing nothing they've spent literally every penny to their name and been working themselves to the bone establishing refugee camps, search parties, etc, while attempting to fend of political coups seizing what remains of their land and power, which would allow essentially anyone to take control of the citizens who've already had their lives destroyed. in the manga, he comes off as a dick, but think about it this way: dude hasn't seen a single thing they've gone through. He's had his own shit to deal with. Also iirc he's kind of a dick on top of that |

@Wehr Nice loaded question. You are obviously free to disagree that it's cheap drama, I am not so gullible however, it's pretty obvious what the author's trying to achieve here (and it's not the first time this has happened either, so I am already used to his shenanigans). I'm going to go even further and predict that this will not come to pass since this author likes to have his cake and eat it too, it's just here as a plot device. |

@criver Can you properly define 'cheap drama' using this context or that's your way of trying to racionalize something you just don't like anymore? |

I hope they change the story in the manga at this point but probably not, might have to drop soon |

@criver I know what you mean, but I really want to prevent myself from consciously thinking about poor writing, if I can help it. Most manga isn't really that well written, objectively speaking (no matter if it's based on LNs), so I try to derive maximum enjoyment by ignoring as many flaws as I can. I don't mind getting annoyed every now and then, even if it's cheap tricks, as long as it's not too persistent, such as an idiotic loser MC (not just idiotic in a good way like Black Star of Soul Eater, for example). |

@Kaarme Or you can just get the best from both worlds: ignore the annoying parts and only let the good ones affect you. If you see this event for what it actually was: a cheap way to generate drama, then you would have just laughed it off as poor writing. |

@criver If I want to enjoy manga, I need to allow them to affect me. Of course it also means I have to drop series that annoy me too much, but that's the price to pay. |
