He has a daughter so I wouldn't think the story would have him end with a different family. (Assuming it goes that far) He'll probably snap back to his old life with some stuff changed for the better to avoid explaining the lack of "butterfly effect" level of changes to his life.

I have the feeling the moral of the story will be 'the grass is always greener on the other side' and he'll end up in the same position as before, but more appreciative of it.
