What I meant, @flannan, was not that I don’t understand that talking about love is embarrassing, but that I don’t understand why talking about love is embarrassing.

And besides, feelings come across more easily when you can see each others’ faces (though that seems to actually be the point).

Talking about love affairs is embarrassing. You're going to get all red as a result. You don't want other people to see you lose composure and become all red. So you talk in the darkness, where other people don't see your face.

Myself I'm a simpler person, so I don't want to talk about love in the first place. But I'm not a teenage girl (and I don't remember ever being one).
