It's entirely possible it's a language quirk, but it irks me when the term 'murder' is used incorrectly.

It seems a lot of places outside of the US view Self Defense this way. It seems to be such a large cultural difference that those of us who view Self-defense as a legitimate reason and those who think doing harm unto the one currently trying to harm/maim/kill you is akin to being that person yourself.
