This guy is an idiot, I mean I know the story needs to have conflict but anyone with a brain would at least make a save point at their house when they wake up or before going into some place or building that way when if unexpected situation comes up in the future you can just go back. It's not a full proof plan since you could be out and make the point right before a bomb goes off but if that's the case you might as well just leave your point at when you wake up, what are the odds of your house being bombed? slim. And why does he need to win every hand if you know whats going to happen I'd win some lose some or make it look like I'm losing and then come back with a big victory at least he wouldnt look suspicious
