Technically people can't have red irises, but if their irises lack melanin for some reason (like if they're albino) the blood vessels behind the irises can make it appear as though they're pink or red. I suppose since there's more than one kind there might be cases where it's mostly or even only noticeable on their eyes.

Also he's a demon from another dimension or something, so there's some plausible deniability in how much he'd even know about how humans are supposed to look depending on what they learn about humanity there and if he's never been on our side of worlds before.
